Bar Stools and Counter Stools: Seat Height, Backs and Spacing
The height of a stool’s back is not its seat height. Measure the underside of your counter, including any apron or support, and compare it with the seat position. Then check the footrest, usable seat width and the space needed to get on and off.

Three different seat heights
| Model | Listed seat height | Other useful measurements |
|---|---|---|
| Tux Counter Stool | 65 cm | 48 cm overall width; 46 cm depth; 81 cm overall height. |
| Birk Stool 2pk — Natural | 66 cm | 45 cm overall width; 50 cm depth; 101 cm overall height. |
| Angelo Bar Stool | 70 cm | Listed seat width 29 cm and seat depth 41 cm. |
A small height difference can matter at a fixed counter. As an illustration, an underside at 90 cm leaves 25 cm above a 65 cm seat, compared with 20 cm above a 70 cm seat. Those are arithmetic gaps, not a guarantee of a comfortable fit for every person or counter.
Choose the back and seating position
The Birk has a cross-back design and a hand-woven rattan seat. The Tux combines a low back with upholstered seating and a footrest. The Angelo has ribbed leather cushioning. Compare how much support you want and how the materials will be used in your kitchen; appearance alone does not establish stain resistance.
Count stools using their full width
Measure the usable counter length between end panels and supports. Allow space between stools for people’s arms and movement. The width of a seat cushion can be smaller than the overall frame, so use the full product width when planning the row.
Check whether the listing is for one stool or a pack: the Birk example is a two-pack. For more options, browse bar stools and ask us to confirm any missing dimensions before purchasing.
