Artificial Plants: Ceiling Height, Spread and Indoor Placement
Plan an artificial plant around its full leaf spread as well as its height. A tall stem can fit below the ceiling while its leaves occupy a doorway or overlap a lampshade. Start with the whole plant’s listed dimensions, then check the pot and any decorative planter separately.

Compare two different scales
| Artificial plant | Listed L × W × H | Specified location |
|---|---|---|
| Eichholtz Strelitzia M | 100 × 100 × 180 cm | Indoor use in dry locations only. |
| Eichholtz Kentia Palm | 140 × 140 × 280 cm | Indoor use in dry locations only. |
Kentia is a full metre taller than Strelitzia M, and its listed spread is 40 cm greater in each horizontal direction. As a simple planning example, a 280 cm plant exceeds a 240 cm ceiling by 40 cm. Check the actual ceiling at its intended position, including beams, pendant fittings and any raised base.
Mark the leaf spread in the room
Use the listed length and width to mark the plant’s overall area on your room plan. Check the space beside seating, curtains and doors, then consider how the leaves sit at different heights. A plant tucked into a corner still needs room for its foliage; the pot footprint alone will understate that space.
The care guidance says stems can arrive compressed and should be arranged carefully. Follow those instructions when shaping them. Do not assume a wide plant can be reduced to a much narrower permanent footprint simply by bending the leaves out of the way.
Check the pot and decorative planter together
The figures above describe the plant, not a guaranteed planter size. Confirm what pot is supplied, its outside dimensions and whether the displayed decorative container is included. If you are choosing another planter, check its internal opening, depth and stable support for the supplied pot.
Also establish whether the quoted plant height includes the supplied pot, and how much height any raised planter or stand would add. Ask for a product-specific arrangement if those measurements are not stated.
Place and care for the exact model
Both examples specify indoor use in dry locations. Their care guidance advises avoiding direct sunlight, heat sources and high-moisture areas. Those instructions do not support treating them as outdoor or UV-resistant plants.
For routine dusting, the supplied guidance recommends a soft dry cloth or gentle feather duster. Arrange and clean the foliage with care, following the complete instructions for the model. For a smaller display on a shelf or console, our living-room display guide can help you plan the surrounding objects.
